Alabama’s agricultural heritage is documented through ten large-scale murals produced in 1939, a time when the state began diversifying its output.

Photojournalist Kate Medley covers national news in the American South, focused on storytelling and environmental portraiture. In this exhibition, Medley invites viewers to see the people and culinary art of service stations, convenience stores and quick stops located across the South, shining a light on the unexpected community, generosity and creativity found in hidden corners of the U.S.

The Jule invites contemporary artists inspired by nature to research Auburn University's collections to engage with, question and critique John James Audubon’s evolving legacy. Trinidadian artist Rodell Warner reimagines John James Audubon’s writings and selections from the iconic Birds of America series, animating text and visuals to foster new ways of seeing and experiencing history.Warner's digital animations have been exhibited at the Art Gallery of Ontario; Big Medium, Austin, Texas; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei; and the Pérez Art Museum, Miami, Florida. Rodell works between Port of Spain in Trinidad, Kingston in Jamaica, and Boston, Massachusetts.

Celebrate the innovative spirit of Auburn faculty members working experimentally in film, painting, photography, new media, sculpture and textile arts. This creative scholarship enriches the academic environment by promoting collaboration, making complex concepts more accessible, generating innovative and engaging ideas, and contributing to cultural and social change. Paired with discoveries in other fields, these outcomes are essential to enhancing Auburn’s stature as a pre-eminent institution with Carnegie R1 status.Presented in collaboration with Showcase 2025, a university-wide initiative to highlight creative scholarship, align its practice with university goals and promote collaboration. Showcase 2025 is organized by Chase Bringarder, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance; Robert Finkel, Program Chair and Associate Professor of Graphic Design; and Anna Ruth Gatlin, Assistant Professor of Interior Design in Consumer and Design Sciences, in concert with the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research and Economic Development.

The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment’s inaugural Emmett & ViAnn Thompson Lecture in Forest Economics and Policy will proudly present Thompson Distinguished Lecturer Brooks Mendell, president and CEO of Forisk Consulting, on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center located at 241 S. College Street in Auburn, Ala.The lecture series was established in the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment by the college’s founding dean, Emmett F. Thompson, and his wife, ViAnn, with the aim to enrich the college’s academic programs with speakers of national and international acclaim who possess expertise in forestry and natural resources with a focus on forest economics and policy.Auburn University faculty, staff, students, alumni and industry professionals are invited to attend the lecture, which will take place at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center auditorium, and the reception immediately following in the Grand Ballroom. The event will begin with 30 minutes of dance instruction, tailored to all proficiency levels. The instruction will be conducted primarily in Spanish, with English explanations provided as needed, offering participants an immersive cultural and language-learning experience. This semester?s focus will be on Bachata and Salsa, two vibrant dance styles deeply rooted in Hispanic culture.The session will be led by Dominic Puello and Nohemy Castellano, talented college-aged instructors from the Auburn community. Dominic, originally from the Dominican Republic, and Nohemy, from Venezuela, bring authentic expertise to the event, having received formal instruction in Bachata and Salsa in their home countries. Their guidance will assist Anthony Espinal, president of El Club de Espa?ol, in delivering clear instructions and providing personalized assistance to all participants throughout the event.Following the instructional period, the dance floor will open for a 30-minute free-dance session, focused on practicing the Bachata and Salsa moves learned during instruction.
