Wine Tastings with Master Sommelier

- DescriptionThe Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management invites the community to a variety of wine tasting classes in the Spring 2025 semester. From Master Sommelier Thomas Price, guests will learn about the wines and tasting techniques in a fun, casual class environment. Guests must be 21 or older and show proof of ID. Light snacks will be served.

Paired with discoveries in other fields, these outcomes are essential to enhancing Auburn’s stature as a pre-eminent institution with Carnegie R1 status.Presented in collaboration with Showcase 2025, a university-wide initiative to highlight creative scholarship, align its practice with university goals and promote collaboration. Showcase 2025 is organized by Chase Bringarder, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance; Robert Finkel, Program Chair and Associate Professor of Graphic Design; and Anna Ruth Gatlin, Assistant Professor of Interior Design in Consumer and Design Sciences, in concert with the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research and Economic Development.

Founded the group in 1972 as a new type of ensemble, the Singers have performed all across the country, internationally, and right here in the Auburn community. The Singers take pride in their traditional roots, while still blending contemporary music and dance into performances.Join us at 2:30PM at the Telfair Peet Theatre. - May 45:00 PMStudent Memorial CeremonyThe Student Memorial Ceremony honors the Auburn University students who have passed away over the last year. The deceased students' families are invited to return to campus so the university can honor their students. Dr. Bobby Woodard will host the event. Student leaders will speak, read poems, and sing. The Dean's Brass Quintet will play music. Family members will honor their student by placing a flower in a vase for them. The ceremony will then conclude.
- May 5All dayBuilding an Effective Emergency Management ProgramThe course will focus on providing an overview of emergency management functions including working with outside agencies and jurisdictions during the planning, response, recovery and mitigation phases. The course will also focus attention on training and certification resources for emergency management Coordinators/Directors, information sharing, the importance of planning and conducting training courses and exercises, managing requests for outside resources as well as an overview of the role of the emergency manager and emergency management staff during an emergency or disaster.
- May 5All dayEM: Researching, Writing, and Managing Public Assistance Grants for County, Tribal, and State EntitiesThis four-week online intensive course is tailored for emergency management professionals and grant managers in county, tribal, and state entities. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the Public Assistance (PA) grant process, from identifying funding opportunities and understanding eligibility requirements to developing competitive grant applications and managing awarded funds in compliance with federal regulations. By the end of the course, participants will have created a complete PA grant application and conducted mock submissions and compliance audits to prepare for real-world scenarios.Offered as part of the Emergency Management certificate program.
