Auburn Forum for Southern Art and Culture

    Presented by The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, the Auburn Forum for Southern Art and Culture is dedicated to institutionalizing object-based learning and museum-enhanced pedagogy through artistic and scholarly investigation of the American South.

    The 2025 Theme is “Teaching Making.” Where is craft taught? How is teaching a form of making? In what ways does place and access matter to learning? Examine the environmental and educational intersections of art and craft in their production, presentation and instruction. In addition to the in-person gathering, the program will be available live and on-demand via the museum's YouTube channel, @thejulemuseum.

Lucking, PhD, assistant professor, School of Architecture & Urban Planning, University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee; and Kyes Stevens, founder and director of the Alabama Prison Arts + Education Project.
