The Gogue Center presents the world premiere of Dorrance Dance's "The Center Will Not Hold" at the Woltosz Theatre—Friday, April 4.Born from “a little room,” "The Center Will Not Hold" is a short duet created and performed by Ephrat Asherie and Michelle Dorrance in December 2022. The now expanded and reimagined work features 11 singular performers deeply rooted in one or many street, club and vernacular dances: house, breaking, hip hop, tap dance, Chicago Footwork, Detroit Jit, Litefeet, Memphis Jookin and body percussion"The Center Will Not Hold" features original music composed by Donovan Dorrance with live percussion by world class drummer and percussionist, John Angeles. The Gogue Center presents Catapult at the Woltosz Theatre—Sunday, April 6.Created in 2008, Catapult is former Pilobolus member Adam Battelstein’s take on ancient Chinese shadow theatre, using bodies instead of puppets. Nothing is left open for interpretation. Accessible to all, the wordless stories transcend language delivering the message clearly and ably.Catapult was propelled into public awareness during its appearance on "America’s Got Talent" in 2013. Auburn University's DREAM-Math master's program is hosting online information meetings to introduce STEM professionals to its fully funded teaching opportunities. The meetings, held on the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m. CST, will outline the program's benefits, including full tuition coverage, living expenses and a $20,000 annual bonus for four years, with a total financial support package of more than $150,000.The DREAM-Math program, a partnership between Auburn University, Tuskegee University, Alabama State University and surrounding school districts, aims to develop, recruit and empower Alabama mathematics teachers. Funded by the National Science Foundation's Noyce Scholarship Program, this initiative seeks STEM degree holders who meet program qualifications to earn a Master of Education in Math Education, leading to teacher certification.Interested individuals can join an informational online meeting and visit the DREAM-Math website for more information. The Department of Curriculum and Teaching and Department of Mathematics and Statistics encourage those considering a teaching career to attend and learn more about this rewarding opportunity.
