- Jul 5All dayEM: Key Elements of Critical Infrastructure Protection & ContinuityThe course objective is to introduce learners to a wide array of issues and concerns involving the nation's critical infrastructure as that term can be broadly defined in the post 9/11 and post- Katrina world. Topics addressed in the course include: • the range of critical infrastructure concerns; • ways in which critical infrastructure concerns have been defined and addressed in the past, ways in which they are presently being addressed, and ways in which they could be more fully addressed in the future; • the role that cascading critical infrastructure failures played in the aftermath of Hurricane KatrinaPart of the Emergency Management Certificate Program
- Jul 5All dayEM: Lessons Being Learned from the Lahaina & Los Angeles WildfiresThis course is designed to take an in-depth look at the lessons that have been learned and the lessons yet to be learned in the aftermath of the 2023 Lahaina in Maui and the 2025 Los Angeles Wildfires. Assignments will include reports and analyses associated with those wild fires. The course will also take a close look at a wide array of accompanying issues and concerns relevant to emergency management posed by this unusual sequence of events that accompanied each disaster.
